Unknown 9: Awakening
You play as Haroona, a Quaestor born with the ability to venture into the Fold: a mysterious dimension that overlaps our own. On her quest for powerful hidden knowledge, she will learn to master her unique connection to the Fold, which allows her to channel its powers into our world...but such power does not go unnoticed. Founded in 1888, the LYS are an elusive secret society whose goal is to bring enlightenment to all of humankind. You can count on its members to help you along your journey.
The Ascendants
A breakaway faction of the LYS, the Ascendants believe in obtaining enlightenment at all costs. Prepare to clash with this clandestine group’s soldiers as you progress through the game.
The Fold
Highly sought by both the LYS and the Ascendants, this otherworldly realm is said to contain immense power and knowledge. Its potent energy is what fuels Haroona’s unique abilities.
Quaestors
These are the Unknown 9 universe’s most curious minds. They are driven to uncover the lost wisdom of our collective past. Members of the LYS and the Ascendants are considered Quaestors, as is Haroona.
About the cast
Anya Chalotra
Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2020, Anya Chalotra, is perhaps best known for her role as Yennefer of Vengerberg in Netflix’s global sensation, The Witcher. She was the standout star of the first three seasons, opposite Henry Cavill and Freya Allan.
Upcoming projects include feature Two Neighbours, opposite Chloe Cherry and Ralph Ineson, sci-fi animation New-Gen alongside Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, and Zack Snyder’s anime prequel Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas with Christian Slater, Vanessa Hudgens, and Nolan North.
In 2021, she starred in the audio adaptation of The Cipher for BBC Sounds. Further credits include the YouTube original series Sherwood (2019), The ABC Murders (2018), and Wanderlust (2018).
In addition to her television work, Anya has an impressive on-stage portfolio, most recently starring as ‘Zula’ in the original stage adaptation of Pawel Pawlikowski’s academy-award nominated film Cold War, written by Conor McPherson and directed by Rupert Goold at the Almeida Theatre, with music by Elvis Costello. Further stage credits include Peter Gynt at the National Theatre, The Village at the Theatre Royal Stratford East (2018), and Much Ado About Nothing at The Globe (2017), as well as fifteen productions at the Guildhall.
