What kind of game is Park Beyond?
Park Beyond is a theme park creation and management game that allows you to surpass the laws of the everyday to build your wildest dreams or, if you prefer, simply enjoy the satisfaction of running a grounded, down-to-earth attractions park with a host of powerful management tools!
If you have already heard of Park Beyond then you have surely heard the term Impossification. Every attraction in the game (i.e., roller coasters, flat rides and stores) can be impossified. This means that in Park Beyond, whether you’re in the sandbox or story mode, you can take the physics and the fun factor to another level!
But there is much more to learn about Park Beyond than just Impossifications, let’s look at 5 ways that Park Beyond is re-defining the management genre on PlayStation 5!
1. Controller-first approach
Every tool and system in the game has been designed from the ground up to give you the best experience possible on the PlayStation 5. Playing Park Beyond with the DualSense Controller is fast and intuitive at all times. The entire UI was built from the beginning to work for controllers.
2. A storyline with choices that matter
Park Beyond lets you play as a visionary architect in a struggling theme park management company, but even though you’re the one in charge, you’re not in this alone! While you’ll have a whole team at your side to help you, these characters are not meant to make every decision for you, but rather to introduce you to all the mechanics of the game.
You’ll be the one choosing how the company will handle challenges like failing parks, by pitching the solution that you want to pursue. Will a family western style park achieve our goals or should we build an alien style park for teens? It's your decision!
3. Macro and micro choices, but always maxi fun
Park Beyond is not only a theme park creation game, it’s also a theme park management game where powerful tools and thoughtful features let you jump right into handling guest happiness and financial management.
You’ll have options like building synergies, staff management, granular price control over rides and shop items, and financial reports on the costs and profits of each building. You’ll also have access to a suite of heatmap views like guest happiness, energy levels, hunger, thirst, and more, all to help you pin-point exact problem spots and help you turn frustration into fun!
4. An immersive soundscape with 3D audio
In a game like Park Beyond ambient sound is especially important to create the feeling of being in a theme park. It just doesn’t feel the same if you can’t hear the music of the rides or the happy screams of fellow park-goers enjoying them! We use 3D audio (among other systems) to make your park sound as alive as possible.
For the soundtrack we got help from Olivier Derivière, whose work you may know from series like A Plague Tale or Dying Light. It is important to Olivier not just to create a piece of music that fits the game, but to fuse music and gameplay for an immersive experience, because sound design is more than just background music!
5. User generated content for everyone!
At its core, Park Beyond is about your creativity. We have so many features that support your imagination. You can build coasters piece by piece, design your own buildings, terraform the maps to your liking and you’ll have hundreds of decorative items at your fingertips.
So once you’ve created your masterpiece, what’s next? Naturally, you’ll want to show your creations to the world or make them available to your friends to add to their game. Other players will be very happy if you have built a wonderful theme park, or the coolest building and they can use it in their parks. For this purpose, we also provide a possibility for the PlayStation 5 to share your self-created content with other players and use their creations as well.
