In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has caused the collapse of the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment.
At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fights to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood.
By giving into the bloodlust fully, these immortal beings risk transforming into the Lost – fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity. Once they’ve turned, there is no going back. Wandering aimlessly in search of blood, the Lost will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger. To avoid such a grim fate, the Revenants search for human blood in the form of blood beads.
Players become Revenants and step into unknown territories in search of these blood beads, with companions in the same situation. Progressing through the story will unveil the protagonist’s special abilities and the reason for their memory loss.
In CODE VEIN, you will be able to create your own character using a wide choice of options, acquire new melee weapons and upgrade your skills to customize your avatar. The game was designed as a cooperative exploration-based Action RPG, so players can invite friends to play co-op mode online. A companion offers strategic support, particularly in battles against strong enemies.
Various battle styles will be available by choosing from 5 categories of weapons and 4 types of equipment. Range and performance will vary with each category, allowing players to find the combination that best fits their playstyle. After defeating enemies, they will acquire Haze and can use it to level up and gain Gifts at a Mistle.
Get a first look at CODE VEIN with gameplay showing off the deep character customization tool, the first boss and the descend into The Depths, where the protagonist will encounter even deadlier enemies. Swapping Blood Codes (a special blood type possessed by Revenants with characteristics of the owner) and selecting specific Gifts will be essential to gain a strategic advantage in combat.
