In a new trailer revealed in the Bandai Namco Summer Showcase, the upcoming roguelite TOWA AND THE GUARDIANS OF THE SACRED TREE sees producer Daisuke Nagaoka introducing two of the game’s eight playable characters: Rekka the fiery young samurai warrior and Nishiki the pious and yet somehow incredibly ripped koi fish.
Developed by Brownies inc., TOWA AND THE GUARDIANS OF THE SACRED TREE comes to life as a 2D isometric roguelite with fast-paced action, gorgeous hand-drawn style characters, stunning painterly scenery, and a unique soundtrack.
Rekka is the founding master of the Eternal Flame Dojo, she’s pledged to be Towa’s personal guard. But despite her mastery of swords, she can be a total klutz. In everyday situations. Her fiery skill with swords makes her well-balanced with strong combos and AOE attacks.
Nishiki, despite his muscular stature and also the fact that he’s a humanoid koi fish (who, ironically, can’t swim), is a highly pious wanderer. Traveling from place to place, his outlook is that defeating Magatsu is a form of philanthropy and is eager to join the fight with a highly mobile and combo-heavy style.
