BANDAI NAMCO ENTERTAINMENT and SUPERMASSIVE GAMES are teamed up to bring you a new experience in gaming: The Dark Pictures Anthology. This series of stand-alone games will take the genre of horror in games to a new cinematic level, with each game in the series presenting a new story in a new setting and featuring a new cast of terrified characters to play as every time.
Each game will pull you through a different horror experience, starting with THE MAN OF MEDAN. Five young people on the vacation of a lifetime find themselves tangled in a net of circumstances that leaves them trapped on a rotting ship, miles away from help. To make things worse, they’re not alone. It’s up to you to save their lives or feed them to the darkness lurking on board.
Your moral compass will be your guide as you take control of each of the five main characters and see the situation from their perspective. You can try to save your friends or save yourself; use logic or emotion to chart your steps. The only constant is that surviving won’t be easy. Every character is at risk. The wrong move could result in a gruesome finale for your entire group. However, if you’re careful, quick, and cunning, everyone just might make it home alive.
If there’s any saving grace, it’s that you’ll have plenty of chances to tweak your strategy, and replaying the scenario will yield new information and choices to explore. With the lives of the whole group at stake, do you have the guts, brains, and reflexes to survive everything the Man of Medan can throw at you? Only one way to find out.
“We are incredibly excited to announce the Dark Pictures Anthology and the first game in the series – Man of Medan. With each title being a standalone game, we have the opportunity to create a unique horror experience every time, with new stories, settings, characters and cast. As a studio we have a passion to deliver powerful cinematic horror, and we can’t wait for players to experience these new games across PS4, XBOX and PC. We have a great partner in Bandai Namco Entertainment and we look forward to working with them to help bring these terrifying tales to gamers everywhere,” said Pete Samuels, CEO Supermassive Games and Executive Producer The Dark Pictures.
“We’ve been working with the amazing team at Supermassive Games to bring this vision together and we hope that fans are as excited to see the game for the first time at Gamescom - as we’ve been creating it”, said Hervé Hoerdt, VP Digital and Marketing BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe. “As well as creating entertaining experience, we want to be innovative as a company. The Dark Pictures, the first example of a horror anthology series within the video game world, positions gaming closer to a style closer to their favourite TV shows…with new, standalone experiences brought to fans on a regular basis. It’s a bold new model, but one we believe fans of both gaming and horror will love.”
The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan arrives on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. Just remember: don’t play it alone…
