If your partner already owns the full game, you can join them online by simply downloading the Free Trial & Friend’s Pass. 

This unique feature means that only one copy of the game is required for both players to complete the entire campaign together. If one of you later decides to purchase the complete game, all progress from the Free Trial will carry over automatically.
