In ages past, a mysterious phenomenon called The Resurgence began to spread across the world.
It warped the very existence of all things, living and non-living, twisting them into monstrous forms. These twisted beings became known as Horrors and posed a grave threat to humanity.
The Sealing of The Resurgence by the Revenants
As human civilization began collapsing, the Revenants, beings who had long lurked in the shadows, emerged to take control of society.
Through the power of one great Revenant, The Resurgence was sealed, and the world knew a brief, fragile peace.
The Upheaval
One hundred years ago, the seal on The Resurgence weakened, bringing the world once more to the brink of collapse.
After a great battle, the Revenants succeeded in sealing it again.
The prominent Revenants who sacrificed their lives in this war would forever after be known as the “Heroes.”
Cocoons
The Cocoons that sealed The Resurgence.
Following the Upheaval, they appeared in locations all across the world.
Now, 100 years later, catastrophic explosions are erupting around these Cocoons, engulfing surrounding areas.
The world is being annihilated, region by region, and humanity stands on the brink of extinction once again.
The Resurgence’s Offspring
The Horrors that slumber within the Cocoons. It is said to be the very existence causing the world's annihilation.
Their true origin is a closely guarded secret, known only to a select few Revenants.
The protagonist’s mission
To shatter the seals on the Cocoons and slay The Resurgence’s Offspring that slumbers within—before the world is annihilated. This is the mission entrusted to the protagonist.
The keys to breaking these seals are held by the Heroes of the past.
Thus, the protagonist, together with a companion named Lou, must travel to the world of 100 years ago: the era in which the Heroes lived.
